Matt Garland

President & CEO

Matt has global P&L responsibility for Hallcon including strategy, lines of business, operations, HR, finance, information technology and new business. He leads the company’s senior management team in setting strategic direction, overseeing execution and financial performance, developing partnerships, managing large change initiatives and integrating all critical functions of a 24/7 business model.

Matt joins Hallcon after a 25-year career at BNSF Railway, one of North America’s largest freight transportation companies. As BNSF’s Executive Vice President of Operations, Matt oversaw the company’s Transportation, Engineering, Mechanical, Safety & Technical Training, Resource Protection, and Environmental & Sustainability departments. He began his career at BNSF in 2001 as a management trainee and worked his way up through the company, taking on increasingly senior roles, including Vice President of the Southern Region & General Superintendent of the Network Operations Center, Senior Vice President for Transportation & Service Design, Chief Transportation Officer, and Executive Vice President of Operations. Matt has a strong track record of leading complex operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and service.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University.
