Dan Ferguson

SVP, Rail Operations

Dan is responsible for the Rail Operations line of business at Hallcon, overseeing the strategy, growth, and delivery of operational solutions for Rail Line of Business in both the United States and Canada. His responsibilities include overall operational performance, senior management team leadership, client relations, as well as business strategy and innovation through communication with dispatch, field operations, IT, Human Resources and Finance. He brings 25-plus  years of rail industry experience spanning operations, safety and compliance, commercial performance, and talent development, with an established network across the Class 1 railroads, including BNSF, Union Pacific, CPKC, CN, CSX, and Norfolk Southern.

Prior to joining Hallcon, he served as Rail Operations Lead at Michael Baker International and held vice president roles at Watco Companies, where he led a sales team responsible for $450 million in revenue across more than 24 short line railroads. Earlier, over a 27-year career at BNSF Railway, he advanced from Locomotive Engineer and Conductor to General Director of the Network Operations Center, leading large operating teams and multimillion-dollar budgets.

Dan holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Northern Montana College. He holds a Locomotive Engineer License through the BNSF Railway Technical Training Center and was named BNSF Railway’s Employee of the Year in 2011.
